You may have heard that some homes are built “Green” or some similar marketing from a developer. If you purchase a newly built home and have an insured mortgage you may be able to get a rebate on some of the insurance premium you paid!
Canada’s three mortgage insurance agencies, CMHC, Canada Guaranty, and SagenTM, offer up to a 25% refund of your insurance premiums for eligible energy-efficient home improvements.
If you have made improvements to your home and have it assessed using the NRCan Energuide Rating System, or if the home you purchased was built under one of the qualifying programs you may be eligible for a refund.
